It Looks Like PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs Require Bigger M.2 Slots : gadgets

[ad_1]

The PCIe 5.0 speeds will only be relevant for a few years in the server space. The server manufacturers will deal with it. By the time this will arrive to consumer market the gains in silicon manufacturing will solve this issue entirely.

Anyway, the 25 width is a total speculation, and even if it will be a desired property be the manufacturer, they will manufacture ones that are compatible with the standard 22 width connectors already everywhere for a long time. The 110 length is available even in most laptops, a given in all but the smallest ITX boards on desktop. I strongly doubt they would change the physical size of the connector for it, and this is a non-issue.
